Services

There are a range of services on offer to meet your needs, whether you are an individual, group or organisation:

Individual Counselling

As a counsellor I try to help people envisage a better future, and become increasingly motivated to achieve it. Ensuring a person uses their own strategies and support base to think differently about their behaviour and ultimately to consider what might be gained through change. The aim is to Thrive. I use a goal-oriented, strength based approach when working with individuals if appropriate, which is the basis of cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT). This therapeutic approach helps the individual focus on their goals, strengths and areas that are proving challenging. I have training in CBT and have used this theory in work with individuals suffering from a broad range of mental health issues. I am also trained in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing therapy (EMDR). This used to treat trauma, anxiety, depression, stress and other events that contribute to current symptoms and challenges. EMDR is an evidence-based treatment that is approved by Medicare Australia.

The approach I take when working with people is a wholistic approach and I use different wellbeing strategies depending on individual needs, presenting issues and time frames. Focusing on the persons own strengths, resources and coping skills are reinforced, in order to contribute to their own health and wellbeing on a long-term basis. The aim is, with better knowledge the person has of their issues, the better the individual can develop long lasting resilient strategies for positive change. The approach I use attempts to increase the persons awareness of the potential problems caused, consequences experienced, and risks faced as a result of the behaviour. Focusing on all aspects of wellbeing including Sleep, Diet, Exercise; Relationships; Relaxation, Joy and Meaning/Purpose to support people to flourish.

A variety of relaxation strategies and techniques can be particularly useful in working with individuals suffering from anxiety, panic disorders, phobias and stress related conditions. Including mindfulness, breathing techniques, and visualisation strategies. I also incorporate wellbeing activities such as meditation, yoga, walking, diet, and general exercise to ensure positive change.

Corporate Wellbeing

Did you know that it is estimated that untreated mental health conditions cost Australian workplaces approximately $10.9 billion per year and that one in five Australians (21%) have taken time off work in the past 12 months because they felt stressed, anxious, depressed or mentally unhealthy. Australians are feeling more stressed than ever, with a lack of sleep, work pressures and even social media playing a role.

Staff wellbeing has a direct impact on the health, longevity and success of an organisation. By looking at your staff, their needs and what could help support your employees we will develop a tailored program that encourages wellness throughout your workplace.
Don’t wait until there’s an issue in your business, preventative wellbeing is a positive way to ensure that your workplace has the tools they need to flourish. Build resilience, improve communication skills and develop strategies to manage challenging relationships in the workplace in a supportive and confidential space.
